Dorje
The origin of Dorje (thunderclap, vajra) is in India (it evolved from the thunderclap of the Vedic weather god Indra), although it later became a Buddhist symbol as Buddhism progressed. Dorje translated means - lord of the stone, embodies the masculine principle and emanates pure yang energy (when lying in place). In Tibet, it is an indispensable tool in various ceremonies (celebration of festivals, meditation ceremonies, etc.).
Dorje is grasped by the center, which is referred to as an indestructible diamond. It represents the essence of enlightenment and its immutable and unbreakable nature. To reach the diamond (the centre), both the opposites of good and evil and their balance are needed. The classical Dorje has five rays, although a six or nine-beam design is also possible. The five spokes symbolize the five metaphysical buddhas, the five elements, the five elements, the five forms of wisdom, the arrangement of the spokes (one pointing directly while the other four join it), symbolizes the constant merry-go-round of reincarnation and the subsequent liberation from it. In the centre of the dorje are two hemispheres with eight lotus petals (like the eight boddhisattvas). Working with the dorje:
Grasp the dorje by the center with the thumb and one of the following fingers (rotate the dorje back and forth from index finger to little finger) - this is an exercise to harmonize the energies. Another harmonizing technique is to rub the edges of each ray with the thumb of the right hand and rotate clockwise. Once all the rays have been circled, turn the Dorje upside down and continue the same on the opposite side to demonstrate the equality and harmony between good and evil. This exercise is good for understanding difficult situations in life, and helps in mental development. Another use of Dorje is to increase self-confidence and courage. Dorje helps (just its physical presence) with feelings of futility, mental exhaustion, feelings of inferiority, and helps integration with the whole. The Dorje, when worn, promotes feelings of inner stability and security, helps to overcome fear.
The Dorje has the power to reveal the true nature of things, to show things in their true light. These qualities make it one of the most suitable tools in meditation. In the home, it is used like a horseshoe to protect the well-being and peaceful atmosphere of the home.
