Roasted green maté, a typical drink of Paraguayan Indians, when roasting releases caffeine from chemical bonds. Thanks to the pre-roasting, the effect of the drink is closer to coffee than tea.
Recommended preparation of 0.5 litres of tea:
10-40 g of tea pour about 80°C boiled water into a calabash. Also good sweetened or with milk.
Mate - crushed leaves of the Paraguayan holly, which grows in South American countries. Because maté does not contain the leaves of the tea plant, this drink does not need to be strained after pouring - in fact, it does not become bitter as the pouring time increases. It is commonly recommended to pour 80°C water over maté, but it is also possible to pour cold water over it (with the proviso that it is left to stand longer in the fridge - ice maté), and the drink is topped up as needed, as long as it tastes good.
