Yin and Yang

Everyone knows the old Chinese symbol of a circle divided into black and white halves. Yin and Yang represent harmony found everywhere in the universe. They embody the intersection of light and dark, day and night, heat and cold, good and evil...

Yin and Yang are not mutually exclusive. On the contrary. One flows into the other and one cannot exist without the other, just like light and shadow. They are in mutual balance like day and night.

While the black part of the circle Yin represents the feminine and the dark element of force, symbolizing water and earth, the white part of the circle Yang represents the masculine element of light and creative force, symbolizing fire and air. Together they form a whole, reflecting the two faces of the same thing, the principle of complementary opposites.
