Product description Statuette Resin Happy Buddha 17 cm 03
Hotei (also Budai) was a Chinese monk who lived in the 10th century AD. He is depicted with a large belly and a sack full of sweets, a ball of wealth or gold ingot. His presence symbolizes success, wealth and prosperity. It is said that Hotei carried sweets in a sack thrown over his shoulder, which he distributed to poor children during his wanderings. He only took money from Zen monks. Once a monk asked him what the meaning of Zen was. Hotei dropped his bag saying "How can one know Zen?" Then he picked up the bag and continued his journey.
The statue is cast in resin. Resin is a mixture of polyester resin and floating chalk. Resin products are very precisely crafted with attention to every detail.
