Product description Tibetan Incense Ropes Dhupaya Vajra Juniper
These are the traditional scented strings of Newar Nepalese called Dhupaya. Tibetan fragrance strings Dhupaya Vajra Juniper are made in the traditional way from various rare aromatic Himalayan herbs. The herbs are ground into a fine powder and wrapped in a thin strip of Lokta paper, which is rolled into strings called Dhupaya. The people of Nepal believe that the smoke emanating from the lit Vajra scented strings attracts the gods and therefore they have found wide use especially in religious ceremonies, both Hindu and Buddhist. Aspirants to the spiritual life light these scented strings during their meditations to keep the mind focused on the object of their interest. Light the string at the thicker end and place it on a scented string or stick holder (made of metal or stone). It contains no toxic or addictive substances.
