You can listen to the sound of the Tibetan bowl Chu here
Round bell, meditation bowl, healing bowl, Himalayan singing bowl, Tibetan bowl. Under all these names lies one of the earliest man-made instruments, which have been used for centuries for religious ceremonies, realaxation and meditation, or for healing in various parts of the world.
We can find a large number of singing bowls on the market in different materials, shapes and thicknesses, decorated or undecorated. Their basic division is based on the way they are made. The first type is the wrought singing bowls, formed from a flat piece of metal which is hammered into the shape of a bowl and has visible depressions and irregularities on its surface. The second type is cast and turned bowls, where molten metal is poured into a mould and then turned to a perfect shape. These bowls are often decorated by etching or enamelling and have a regular smooth shape.
Opinions differ among experts as to whether wrought or cast bowls achieve a better sound, so there is no choice but to make up your own mind.
The Uses of Tibetan Bowls
As is well known, music has a beneficial effect on the human body and mind. The delicious long-lasting tones of Tibetan bowls allow us to concentrate our mind, relax and unwind our body. The use of the singing bowls can be observed in religious rituals, meditation and relaxation sessions, sound therapy or sound massage.
While the frequency of playing the singing bowl helps to repair the interrupted frequencies of our body, mind and soul, the centering effect helps to interconnect the left and right hemispheres.
