Hindu tradition teaches that all the signs of the world originated from the sacred syllable OM, which is the primordial vibration of the universe, the cosmic engine. OM is the most powerful mantra. This syllable plays an important role in the early Vedic teachings. It is also found in Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. OM is everything past, present and future. The syllable OM is considered to be a manifestation of spiritual power and as such is not usually perceived as a word. Almost all mantras begin with this syllable, such as Avalokiteshvara's mantra "óm mani padmé húm".
There is only one being, being itself. That is the OM.
